Stepped ceiling and oak floor in a Runda living room
After
Before
The brief
A 1990s house with a flat concrete ceiling and cold terrazzo floor. The family wanted warmth without a full renovation. The stepped ceiling hides the new wiring and gives three lighting moods for the room; the oak floor was laid over the terrazzo to avoid two weeks of demolition dust.
Scope of work
- Stepped gypsum ceiling with a perimeter LED cove and central pendant point
- Twelve dimmable downlights on three circuits
- Old terrazzo floor levelled and overlaid with engineered oak
- Walls repainted in warm white; TV wall in limewash
- New skirting and door thresholds
Materials
- 12.5 mm gypsum board on metal frame
- Warm white 3000K LED strip and downlights
- Engineered oak, 14 mm, brushed and oiled
- Limewash in a soft clay tone
